Comments: Grain and soybean futures rallied into the Christmas holiday with the soybean market leading the way on support from continued dry conditions in Argentina and falling estimates of that country's crop. Technical strength also spurred fresh buying as nearby soybean futures moved to the highest level since September of 2008. Corn futures also found support from Argentine weather and technical strength, but gains were limited by sluggish export demand. Wheat futures rebounded on continued concerns about dry conditions in the U.S. HRW wheat belt and tight world milling wheat supplies. Livestock futures had a strong week with live cattle futures boosted by a $2-$3 rise in Plains cash prices and prospects for tightening cattle supplies. Lean hog futures rose on signs of improving export demand and expectations for hog supplies to start tightening seasonally in January. Cotton futures fell back a bit as speculators booked profits after the previous week's big price run up. Click on the Brock logo or call 1-800-558-3431 for more info on our services.
