Comments: Grain and soybean futures were pressured last week by favorable U.S. weather conditions and concerns China's economy may slow more than expected this year. Corn futures felt the brunt of the pressure as early planting activity boosted expectations for 2012 U.S. corn plantings. Beneficial rains in the U.S. Plains boosted winter wheat crop expectations. Soybean futures sold off initially, but rebounded as supply concerns rose on a lower Argentine crop estimate and ideas fast corn planting progress will mean fewer U.S. soybean acres. Grain/soybean price action may be very choppy ahead of this Friday's key USDA Prospective Plantings and quarterly Grain Stocks Reports as traders even positions. Livestock markets remained under pressure last week from demand concerns as cutout values for beef and pork slipped again. Live cattle futures losses were limited by firm Plains cash trade. Friday's USDA Cattle-on-Feed Report was mildly negative as it pegged the March 1 feedlot inventory at the high end of expectations. Cotton futures rebounded on strong weekly export sales and position evening. Click on the Brock logo or call 1-800-558-3431 for more info on our services.
