Comments: Soybean futures continued their march higher amid the continued absence of any clear indications prices were high enough to ration supplies. Concerns about U.S. soybean output remained high amid fears heavy rains associated with Hurricane Isaac could result in field losses, although such losses were likely limited. Corn and wheat futures finished the week little changed as questions about demand and prospects for soil moisture to be recharged in the Delta and lower Midwest by remnants of Isaac offset support from production worries and rising soybean prices. Very weak export demand for U.S. corn remained a negative market factor. Wheat futures surged at midweek on renewed speculation about a Russian grain export ban, but fell back after Russian officials again ruled out a ban. Livestock futures rebounded from the previous week's declines with live cattle boosted by higher Plains cash cattle trade and hopes for the Federal Reserve to move to stimulate the U.S. economy. Lean hog futures were boosted by speculative profit taking due to their discount to cash, but falling cash prices limited gains. Cotton futures rose on a weak U.S. dollar and expectations for reduced U.S. acreage in 2013. Click on the Brock logo or call 1-800-558-3431 for more info on our services.
