Comments: High flying soybean futures were brought down a notch last week as traders banked profits after the previous week's strong gains. Pressure on cash soybean prices amid increasing harvest activity and signs Chinese demand may finally be slowing helped spur long liquidation. The grain markets were mixed as corn futures edged lower under pressure from increasing harvest activity and the weakness in soybean futures, while wheat futures rebounded from early week losses to post moderate gains on expectations Black Sea region exports will soon slow, providing a boost for U.S. sales. Corn losses were limited by expectations for USDA to lower its production estimate this Wednesday and the wheat price strength. Livestock futures had a mixed week with live cattle futures mostly edging higher on strong cash markets and tightening supplies, while lean hog futures came under renewed pressure from sharp losses in cash hog/wholesale pork prices amid continued larger-than-expected hog supplies. Cotton futures eased amid an absence of positive fundamental news despite support from a weak dollar. Click on the Brock logo or call 1-800-558-3431 for more info on our services.
