SouthernCropsConnectSM, an event organized by Meister Media Worldwide and Cotton Grower® magazine, took place August 28-31, 2017 in Buford, Georgia. The first of its kind in the Cotton Belt, this industry-leading, executive-level event connects progressive grower operations with innovative companies that offer the technology and solutions they are searching for.

"I enjoyed it very much," said Sledge Taylor, a cotton producer and gin owner/operator from Como, MS. "I found value in it, and I would come back," said Taylor. When asked what he'd say to another farmer who was considering attending, Taylor replied, "I'd tell them that I think it would be a very worthwhile time. You get to, number one, be with the suppliers and network with the suppliers, but another plus is you also get to network with a lot of very innovative, advanced farmers and get a lot of innovative ideas."

SouthernCropsConnect organizers credited the producer attendees for the event's success.

"SouthernCropsConnect was a hit for all involved because at its core were a dozen very forward-thinking cotton producers who are serious about farming better, farming more efficiently, and farming more economically," said Beck Barnes, Editor-Publisher of Cotton Grower® magazine. "These producers are small business owners who are trying each year to scratch out a profit, and this event exists to help them do that. SouthernCropsConnect provides them the platform to put their specific challenges and opportunities in front of ag suppliers who are offering customized solutions."

Barnes also saw value in the location and general atmosphere of the event.

"The relaxed setting at SouthernCropsConnect was important," he said. "Our growers felt comfortable talking about on-farm challenges with industry and ag business experts who were also there to learn. As our grower attendees told us, the conversations they had with ag suppliers were light but constructive.

"The surest sign of the event's success was the number of producers who told us they were very interested in attending again the next time we host a CONNECT event," said Barnes.
