Aug. 13, 2018 Agri Marketing magazine reports: AAEA Lifetime Achievement award: The American Agricultural Editors' Association's (AAEA) Lifetime Achievement Award is designed to honor current and former members of the organization for outstanding professional and personal achievements and leadership, with specific emphasis on contributions toward improvement of the viability and value of AAEA. This award is reserved for those who have adhered to high standards of professionalism in all aspects of their endeavors. Lynn Henderson Henderson is owner of Henderson Communications, Adel, IA, whose principle products in Agri Marketing magazine and its related digital products. It is also the publisher of the ProSelling book which is used by over 50 universities and the Agri Manners book. He is a graduate of Iowa State University and has worked for ACCO Seed, Century Communications, Doane Agricultural Services Co. Henderson is currently Secretary of the National Association of Farm Broadcasting's (NAFB) Foundation and a member of the American Business Media's Agri-Media Council, the Farm Foundation, the National Agri-Marketing Association (NAMA), Ag Relations Council and the American Agricultural Editors' Association (AAEA). He is a past national President of NAMA and is a recipient of its R.C. Ferguson and NAFB's Dix Harper awards which honor distinguished service to the agricultural industry. He has also received the awards presented to Outstanding Communicators by the Agricultural Retailers Association (ARA), Mid America CropLife Association (MACA) and the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers (ASFMRA). He has served on the Board of Directors of the National Alliance of Independent Crop Consultants (NAICC), the national FFA Sponsors Board, the Conservation Technology Information Center (CTIC), the National 4-H Council and the World Agricultural Forum. He has been active in the American Bankers Association (ABA), the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers (ASFMRA), the International Certified Crop Adviser (ICCA) program and the Agricultural Retailers Association (ARA). Tom Curl Curl is Owner of the TRL Group, Milwaukee, WI. He is a graduate of Texas A&M University and has worked for The Progressive Farmer and Reiman Publications. Distinguished Service Award Each year AAEA honors an individual who is a leader and gives something back to the agricultural community with the AAEA Distinguished Service Award. This award is sponsored by ADM. Orion Samuelson Samuelson has been a farm broadcaster for WGN Radio, Chicago, IL, for 58 years. He and his partner Max Armstrong host the TV program This Week in Agribusiness. He is in the National Association of Farm Broadcasting's Hall of Fame,d was inducted in the Radio Hall of Fame by his long time friend Paul Harvey and is in the National 4-H Hall of Fame. On December 9, 2010 the southwest corner of E. Illinois Street & N. Cityfront Plaza Drive was named "Orion Samuelson Way" by the city of Chicago. In 2001, Samuelson was named a Laureate of The Lincoln Academy of Illinois and was awarded the Order of Lincoln - the highest award bestowed by the State of Illinois.
