Aug. 17, 2018 CropLife America CEO Jay Vroom reports: Dr. Mary-Dell Chilton is hanging up her Syngenta lab coat and retiring, but her work continues to influence progress in agriculture and humanity for generations to come. As a founder of modern plant biotechnology, Dr. Chilton is directly linked to the world's incredible improvements in crop productivity over the past two decades. In my congratulatory letter to Dr. Chilton, I noted that her "personal scientific discoveries stand out on their own, but also weave together with vast commercial and academic innovative research that allows the world to benefit from productive farming and even greater positive environmental contributions." I also thanked her for what she's done to advance science in academia, especially at our alma mater, the University of Illinois. Among her many honors, she was named a World Food Prize Laureate in 2014. Tweet |
