FCSAMERICA OFFICIAL EXPECTS FARMLAND SALES TO ACCELERATE IN 2019
BrownfieldAgNews reports:

An official of Omaha-based Farm Credit Services of America (FCSAmerica) says he expects the farmland market to be very active heading into 2019.

"We're pretty optimistic that there's going to be a lot of land moving in the next 12 to 18 months," says FCSAmerica senior vice president Bob Campbell

Campbell says estates are the main sellers of land, reacting to increases in interest rates and stagnant commodity prices. But he says farmer demand is still strong.

"There's plenty of producers out there that have the capacity to buy the ground-if it fits their operation and fits the timing of what they're trying to do."

Campbell says prices for good farmland are steady to even slightly higher in some areas, while marginal ground has backed off from its peak.

FCSAmerica serves Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota and Wyoming.
