UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS TO BUILD STATE OF THE ART FEED TECHNOLOGY CENTER
BrownfieldAgNews reports:

The University of Illinois will break ground this summer on a state of the art feed technology center.

"It really is an opportunity for us to develop outreach and academic programs."

Rodney Johnson, head of animal science, tells Brownfield the new facility will replace the current feed mill on campus, built in the 1920's.

"It will produce all of the diets for the animals that are raised on our south farms. It will also produce experimental diets."

He says the donation of a used extrusion line from Alltech will further expand capabilities of the facility.

"We have one of the leading companion animal nutrition programs in the country and once this extrusion line is up and running we will have the ability to manufacture pet food diets."

The facility is expected to be finished by August of 2020.
