AFRICAN SWINE FEVER SPREADS TO NORTH KOREA
BrownfieldAgNews reports:

African Swine Fever continues to spread throughout Asia. North Korea is the latest country to confirm the virus.

The country's ministry of agriculture reported that 77 hogs on a cooperative farm died in an outbreak that began on May 23. Another 22 pigs were culled in an effort to stop the spread of the virus.

Following the announcement, South Korea is expected to ramp up its quarantine measures in an effort to protect its hog herd.

African Swine Fever poses no human health threat and does not impact the food supply, but is deadly to pigs. The disease was first found in China but has since spread to Vietnam, Cambodia, and Mongolia.
