AFRICAN SWINE FEVER DISCOVERED IN THE PHILIPPINES
BrownfieldAgNews reports:

African Swine Fever has spread to the Philippines.

Agriculture Secretary William Dar says 14 of 20 blood samples sent to a British lab tested positive for the disease but further tests were needed.

Dar told reporters more than 7,400 pigs have been culled in Rizal and Bulacan provinces. He says the hog industry is critical to the Philippines, and everything that must be done is being done.

Government officials say they will also tighten inspections at airports and seaports and crackdown on the smuggling of imported meat to prevent large-scale outbreaks.
