CONNECTIV AGRI MEDIA COMMITTEE CHANGES ITS NAME, UPDATES ITS MISSION
Source: by Nancy Batio, Director of Marketing, WATT Global Media and Chair, Connectiv Ag Media Council

In the fall of 2019, the Connectiv Agri Media Committee members met during the NAMA Fall Conference in St. Louis, MO, to discuss our goals for 2020. We determined that it was time to update the committee's name to the new Connectiv Ag Media Council (originally the Agricultural Publishers Association--APA).

Also, the mission statement had not been updated in 5 years, which is a lifetime in the media world, and in need of change to better reflect our true objectives and to form a direction for the future.

We created a sub-committee to tackle the project along with a charter to document and outline the work ahead. Our objective was to create a new mission that accurately communicated who the council represented, why the council existed, and the value the council brought to the agri-marketing community.

The ultimate outcome was to create greater awareness of the Connectiv Ag Media Council as an established entity of knowledgeable and reputable agri-marketers, acting as a resource to further the media insights of agribusiness professionals to help achieve their business goals.

The new 2020 Mission Statement:

To support and communicate the distinct value of agricultural media by providing research, education and networking opportunities to marketers working in the agriculture industry.

Objectives to achieve the mission

*Develop research that measures the values of modern agricultural media and deliver the results to ag marketers through timely multi-channel communications

*Promote agricultural media and members' related businesses

*Provide value to advertisers with industry information and resources that can help them develop effective marketing programs using members' products/services

*Promote the breadth and depth of Connectiv services and products to better serve our members

*Serve as a forum for exchange of ideas among ag media members and other B2B media companies

*Ensure the stability and growth of the Ag Media Council through active, participatory membership and membership development

Each objective also included the indicators of success to allow them to be specific and measurable.

In addition to the updated mission statement, we developed a new logo and tagline with the help of the graphic designers at Paulsen, to further the unique identity and branding of the council.

One of the key initiatives of the council is the introduction of significant, new research which tracks and reflects the modern media consumption trends of ag audiences every 1-2 years. The highly anticipated results of this study are set to be released on May 21, 2020 during a webinar that is free to members of Connectiv and the National Agri-Marketing Association. Please watch for your invite to come, you won't want to miss the important insights revealed.
