Kansas City, Mo - Woodruff, a full-service marketing and communications company dedicated to providing its clients with innovation that delivers results, has expanded its digital capabilities to offer the latest in web development - progressive web application (PWA).

PWA blurs the lines between web and mobile technologies. A PWA is essentially an application that works in any web browser but offers the functionality people expect from native applications, like a home screen icon, fast load times, access to content when offline, push notifications, GPS locations and other device hardware access.

"Now more than ever it's important for companies to ensure their digital properties are easy to access and as user-friendly as possible," says Jenny Jones, digital director, Woodruff. "PWAs provide the ultimate user experience, and that translates to results in terms of more pages visited, lower bounce rates, increased engagement and more conversions."

But PWAs aren't just used for external-facing websites. Woodruff most recently used the technology when developing an application for Compass Minerals. The company wanted an application that its sales team could use in the field. A web-based application was the ideal solution for their salespeople to have access to the most up-to-date information on any device even when they were in remote locations without Wi-Fi.

"The new PWA that Woodruff helped us create will enhance the way we do business," says Lauren Fallon, manager, marketing communications, Compass Minerals. "The PWA contains the necessary resources to help the sales team complete their jobs on the go, all in a clear, concise and convenient location at their fingertips. Accessibility, connectivity, convenience and user experience were of utmost importance, and we are excited about the functionality that the PWA delivers."

Jones says the Woodruff team was excited about the Compass Minerals application. "We were able to take what we had learned from immersing ourselves in the newest technologies and put it to work in a very relevant way for our client," says Jones. "That is the ultimate in job satisfaction."

Over the past two years, Woodruff has tripled its digital team and broadened and deepened its capabilities in digital strategy, website design and development, app development, e-commerce, search engine optimization and email marketing. Additionally, it has a dedicated analytics team to help measure those efforts.

"At Woodruff, we're continually learning about and evaluating new tools, technologies and practices that will best benefit our clients," says Jones. "Progressive web applications is just the latest example of that. We're looking forward to many more."
