ANALYSIS SHOWS U.S. BEAN MEAL HAS HIGHEST NUTRITIONAL QUALITY
BrownfieldAgNews reports:

A new analysis of nearly 20 studies and almost 2,000 samples of soybean meal underscores the nutritional quality of U.S. bean meal compared with Argentina, Brazil and India.

Paul Burke, soybean marketing director of the U.S. Soybean Export Council, tells Brownfield the analysis is the most comprehensive quality review of soybean meal ever conducted, "U.S. soy protein, while sometimes lower, while sometimes lower in crude protein, has good or even better profiles especially when it comes to amino acids, sucrose or energy and digestibility, compared to soybeans from other regions."

Burke says soybeans and soy protein are traded on a crude protein measure, "We've long believed that crude protein as a measurement does not represent the value in the soybean that buyers and end users should be looking at."

Burke says companies can now use a Nutrient Value Calculator (NVC) by Genesis Feed Technologies to determine the economic and nutrient values and prices which show U.S. bean meal is the leading contributor to cost reduction in broiler diets.

The meta-analysis was conducted by Ibaņez et al. (2020), and Dr. Gonzalo Mateos, Professor of Animal Science at the University of Madrid in Spain and study co-author. The findings were first presented at USSEC's Asia Trade Exchange to 850 U.S. Soy customers and soybean industry representatives.
