SORGHUM EXPORTS FROM THE PORT OF BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS
Source: Nat'l Sorghum Producers news release

This week at the Port of Brownsville, West Plains LLC began to load the first vessel of grain for marine export since the Omaha, Nebraska-based commodity group first purchased and began restoring the facility in 2016.

The 33,000 MT (1.3 mbu) vessel will soon set sail to China, completely loaded with Texas sorghum. In the coming weeks, three more Chinese vessels of the same capacity will arrive at the South Texas port to load up with sorghum as a part of sales made under the Phase One agreement.

Sorghum producers across Texas are already experiencing basis improvements resulting from increased competition for exports. We're grateful for all the hard work and investments made by West Plains, as well as the strong partnership between the U.S. Grains Council, the United Sorghum Checkoff Program, National Sorghum Producers and Texas Grain Sorghum Producers that helped to bring this project to fruition.
