NAT'L SORGHUM PRODUCERS REPORT HISTORIC EXPORT COMMITMENTS Oct. 12, 2020
National Sorghum Producers report:
Last week was the earliest commitment for sorghum exports in the next marketing year with a 5.4 million bushel commitment, likely by China, the week of Sep. 24. Prior to this, the earliest commitment for the next marketing year was for 275,578 bushels by Mexico the week of Oct. 7.
China purchased 5.2 million bushels of sorghum this week, in addition to taking delivery of 6.2 million bushels. Only one month into the current marketing year, total export are already more than 115 million bushels, or 44 percent of this year's USDA export projection.
Basis is up a nickel to a dime across the interior, and sorghum is trading around 129 percent of corn at the Gulf. There are also bids for sorghum marketed in the 2021/22 marketing year of more than $4.20/bushel, along with anecdotal reports of bids approaching $5.00/bushel.
