UTAH IS NOW THE SEVENTH STATE BANNING CAGES FOR EGG PRODUCTION
Agri-Pulse reports:

Utah now joins seven states in banning the use of battery cages, or small, wired cages for egg-laying hens. Utah Governor Spencer Cox signed a bill last week requiring hens be raised in cage-free barns beginning in 2025.

Other states that have banned battery cages include Michigan, Oregon, Washington, Massachusetts, California, Rhode Island and Colorado.

According to USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service, in 2020, Utah produced 1.44 billion eggs compared to U.S. production totaling 111.5 billion eggs. Iowa, the nation's top egg-producing state, produced 15.3 billion eggs in 2020 alone.
