Oak Brook, IL - Farm Foundation, an accelerator of practical solutions for agriculture, will host its next virtual Forum, Geopolitical Disruptions: Implications for U.S. Agriculture and Trade on Tuesday, March 22, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. CDT.

Dr. Amanda Countryman, Associate Professor in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics at Colorado State University and Farm Foundation's Agricultural Economics Trade Fellow, will moderate the panel, which will include diverse perspectives from these expert contributors:

Dan Basse, President, AgResource Company
Dr. Joseph Glauber, Senior Research Fellow, Markets, Trade and Institutions Division, International Food Policy Research Institute
Dr. William Liefert, Senior Agricultural Economist (retired), Economic Research Service, USDA

The session will last two hours, during which the panel will discuss topics including the impact of the conflict in Ukraine and potential impacts of other major geopolitical disruptions to global agricultural markets. The current shocks to global agricultural trade are having wide-ranging effects, touching seed availability, fertilizer prices, and exacerbating existing supply chain issues, among many others. Audience members will be invited to submit questions for the panelists to answer live during the event.

"Volatility is the word we're going to have to get used to as an agricultural producer," said Dan Basse, President, AgResource Company in a recent Farm Journal interview on the topic. "This is volatility we've not seen going back to the seventies."

This event is being held virtually and is free to attend, but registration is required. Farmers, ranchers, food and agribusiness leaders, government officials and staff, industry representatives, NGO representatives, academics, students in agricultural disciplines, and members of the media are all encouraged to attend.
