FARM FOUNDATION TO HOLD WEBINAR "ADVANCING AGRICULTURAL CARBON MARKETS"
Source: Farm Foundation news release

Oak Brook, IL - Farm Foundation, an accelerator of practical solutions for agriculture, will host its next virtual Forum, Solving the Barriers to Agricultural Carbon Markets, on Tuesday, April 12, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. CDT.

Garth Boyd, partner with The Context Network, will moderate the panel, which will include diverse perspectives from these expert contributors:

Dr. Alejandro Plastina, Economics Associate Professor/Extension Economist, Iowa State University, and Farm Foundation's Agricultural Economics Fellow

Kristine Tidgren, Director, Center for Agricultural Law and Taxation, Iowa State University

Shelby Myers, Economist, American Farm Bureau Federation

The session will last two hours, during which the panel will discuss what still needs to be done to advance agricultural carbon markets. Providing an objective look at carbon markets from an economic and legal perspective, topics discussed will include what pitfalls persist, what opportunities are available for farmers, and where both the science and market trends are currently headed. Audience members will be invited to submit questions for the panelists to answer live during the event.

Farmers could benefit from the increasing global interest in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, says Dr. Plastina in an upcoming Farm Foundation Issue Report on carbon markets. "We are pleased to revisit this topic through our Forum discussion as the market continues to evolve, yet barriers remain," says Shari Rogge-Fidler, president and CEO of Farm Foundation.

This event is being held virtually and is free to attend, but registration is required. Farmers, ranchers, food and agribusiness leaders, government officials and staff, industry representatives, NGO representatives, academics, students in agricultural disciplines, and members of the media are all encouraged to attend. Register at farmfoundation.org.
