FARM BUREAU TO HOST MILK PRICING FORUM
BrownfieldAgNews reports:

American Farm Bureau Federation is bringing dairy farmers and processors together to discuss milk pricing issues before the next the farm bill.

Economist Danny Munch tells Brownfield AFBF has organized a federal milk marketing order forum in Kansas City October 14th through the 16th. "The forum is open to all dairy industry participants. They can be a processor, an exporter, farmers. You know, our members are really trying to create that environment of cooperation, of understanding, so all segments of the dairy supply chain will be heard."

Munch says the structure of the forum is designed to get participants talking about the issues and possible policy changes. "Each segment will begin with a panel that will include industry leaders and farmers, and they'll discuss specific dairy policy such as class one pricing issues, which includes things like the mover, like the class one differential, and that first panel session will then be followed by a corresponding round table session."

Munch says there have been proposals to change the Class One mover and discussions about make allowances from various dairy groups. He tells Brownfield Farm Bureau leaders decided to have an industry-wide conference knowing Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack wants consensus before opening any Federal Milk Marketing Board hearings.

Online registration for the Federal Milk Marketing Order Forum is open through September 22nd and the registration link can be found Here
