ANIMAL HEALTH INSTITUTE PRESIDENT & CEO TO RETIRE; BOARD INITIATES SEARCH

Washington, DC - Alexander S. Mathews, President and CEO of the Animal Health Institute, has announced his intention to retire from that position at the end of the calendar year. As a result, the Board has initiated a nationwide search for a successor.
"The AHI Board extends its deepest gratitude to Alex for his nearly 30 years of dedicated service to animal health. Under his leadership, AHI has achieved numerous milestones," said Ester Banque, Executive Vice President and President, U.S. Operations for Zoetis, and Chair of the AHI Board. "Throughout his tenure, Alex has guided the animal health industry through numerous challenges, and together with the board, transformed it into a thriving sector poised to bring innovative solutions to market, addressing the diverse health and welfare needs of both livestock and companion animals."
"I have great respect for the dedication and passion of the people I've had the pleasure of working with, both members and association staff," said Mathews. "That passion has driven the industry to make great strides in serving both animal and human health. I leave with a sense of accomplishment and look forward to the opportunity to pursue new ventures."
Banque said the Board will appoint a search committee to conduct a search for a successor.
"We seek a leader who will build on AHI's record of success and help craft a policy environment that strengthens companies' abilities to bring exciting new innovations to the market," said Banque. "The animal health industry enables the human animal bond and contributes to sustainability, food safety, pandemic prevention and response, as well as other important societal goals. There are exciting new technologies available to protect the health and welfare of both livestock and our companion animals and we need a science-driven policy environment to realize this potential."
