OBP'S RICHARD FORDYCE APPOINTED USDA UNDERSECRETARY FOR FARM PRODUCTION AND CONSERVATION
Source: OBP news release

Richard Fordyce
St. Louis -- Leadership that puts farmers first. That's the hallmark of Richard Fordyce's esteemed career in agriculture, and now that career is being recognized at the highest levels of government. Fordyce, OBP's Director of Ag Business, has been appointed as the USDA Undersecretary for Farm Production and Conservation. This prestigious appointment highlights Richard's exceptional reputation, dedication and expertise in agriculture.

"Anyone who's had the privilege to know Richard knows there is no one more qualified or deserving for this role," said Rhonda Ries, OBP President. "During his four-year tenure at OBP, Richard's character, credibility and deep respect within the industry have strengthened our agency. We've seen firsthand how his leadership opens doors and builds trust."

While his new role at USDA will be demanding, Fordyce remains part of the OBP family, advising on key agricultural initiatives including the agency's internal education program, AgSmarts.

"We will certainly miss having Richard with us day-to-day, but we know his work as Undersecretary will have a profound impact, one that will be felt across our nation's farm and ranch communities for years to come," said Ries.

Fordyce has held leadership roles in agriculture on the local, state and national levels for more than 30 years. Prior to OBP, he served as the Administrator of USDA's Farm Service Agency, where he led a nationwide network of over 2000 county and 50 state officials dedicated to supporting farmers and ranchers during historically challenging times.

Before serving at USDA, he was appointed by Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon to lead the Missouri Department of Agriculture as the director. He also served Missouri soybean farmers on the United Soybean Board.

He and his wife Renee own and operate Fordyce Farms, a fourth-generation Missouri soybean, corn and cattle farm, in Harrison County.
