![]() Mar. 28, 2025 Source: GSI news release ASSUMPTION, Ill. -- Farmers have many options when selecting a new grain dryer for their operation, and there are numerous factors to consider. The GSI Dryer Guide is a new online resource that helps them determine the dryer that best fits their operation. "Having the right dryer is critical for a successful harvest," said Alan Lockwood, GSI conditioning product manager. "Farmers have many dryer types and models to choose from, and they want to better understand their options. Our new Dryer Guide provides guidance to help them make a more informed decision when it comes to selecting the right dryer." The new tool enables farmers to answer a few short questions and receive personalized recommendations for the optimal GSI dryer option. To get started, the guide asks farmers to select the two most important features for their next dryer, with criteria including fuel efficiency, grain quality, capacity and price point. Next, they specify the primary crop they will be drying, whether or not it is food grade and the size of their storage bins. Based on the farmer's responses, the tool offers one or more recommendations from among four dryer types: mixed flow, portable, TopDry and tower. A capacity quiz follows, asking farmers how many bushels they will harvest daily, the number of drying hours per day, and how many moisture points they intend to remove. The tool then recommends dryer models and enables farmers to connect with an expert. "Selecting a dryer is not a one-size-fits-all decision," Lockwood said. "The Dryer Guide will help farmers work with their GSI dealer to determine the one dryer that is the right fit for the way they farm today and into the future."
