Jun. 9, 2025 National Association of Farm Broadcasting (NAFB) reports: Platte City, MO -- It's time again to recognize excellence in farm broadcasting and also outstanding service to NAFB -- and agriculture! Nominations are now open for three prestigious NAFB awards -- Farm Broadcaster of the Year, Horizon and Meritorious Service. Your nominations should be carefully chosen, using the criteria listed below. Think about the leaders who are making a difference and nominate them today! The winners, selected by a panel of judges in each category, will be recognized at the 2025 NAFB Convention in Kansas City on Nov. 19-21. The nomination deadline for these awards is Monday, June 30, 2025. Farm Broadcaster of the Year and Horizon Award Sponsored by Syngenta Both of these awards are given based on professional excellence in broadcasting, commitment to the industry and community leadership. The Farm Broadcaster of the Year award has been given since 1969 and is perhaps the most coveted award in our industry. The Horizon Award, established in 1995, is specifically designed to recognize new farm broadcasters with five years or less in the industry who show tremendous promise in broadcasting. Each of these awards are given based on the following criteria: •On-air broadcasting (including news, markets, weather, or special reports) •Leadership in broadcast programming, promotion, and marketing at station/network •Community involvement and leadership •NAFB involvement •Nominate a deserving Broadcast Council member or yourself for either award by filling out the online form (click the nominations link below) by Monday, June 30, 2025. * Broadcast Council members with five years or less experience are eligible for the Horizon Award. Meritorious Service Award The Dix Harper Meritorious Service Award is the highest honor NAFB presents an Allied Industry or Management & Sales Council member who has demonstrated exemplary and committed service to NAFB. The award will be presented on Thursday, November 20, at the 2025 NAFB Convention Night of Honors banquet.
