Jul. 29, 2025 BrownfieldAgNews reports: The USDA's national condition ratings improved a little over the past week for soybeans and pasture lands, but other major crops declined. Development conditions have been generally favorable, but some key U.S. growing areas had only scattered rainfall with high heat and parts of the region saw severe storms. 73% of U.S. corn is good to excellent, down 1%, with 76% silking and 26% at the dough making stage, both close to the respective five-year averages. 70% of soybeans are called good to excellent, up 2%, and 76% is blooming with 41% at the pod setting stage, near normal. 80% of winter wheat is harvested, compared to 81% on average. 49% of spring wheat is in good to excellent shape, 3% lower, and 92% is headed with 1% of the crop harvested. 55% of cotton is good to excellent, a decrease of 2%, with 80% squaring and 44% setting bolls. 77% of rice is reported as good to excellent, falling 2%, with 63% headed. 66% of sorghum is in good to excellent condition, dipping 2%, with 39% headed and 21% coloring. 45% of U.S. pastures and rangelands are rated good to excellent, 2% higher and 6% above a year ago.
