Aug. 6, 2025 Source: WATT Global Media news release SAVANNAH, Ga. -- Seven in 10 consumers now shop for groceries online or via mobile app, with more than a third of consumers younger than 42 doing so weekly. The barriers to online fresh chicken purchases, such as concerns about safety in transit and delivery costs, are gradually shrinking, according to new research presented at Chicken Marketing Summit 2025. The 2025 Chicken Consumption Survey results revealed consumer behaviors and explored today's trends that offer clues about where consumer expectations are headed. The survey results were presented by Erkin Peksoz of Circana (pictured above). The study was commissioned by the National Chicken Council (NCC), with funding provided by Elanco Animal Health, Marel, NCC and WATT Global Media. "This year's lineup of industry experts examined how new and evolving technologies will provide the broiler industry with opportunities to continue to improve engagement with digital-first consumers, all while improving productivity and cutting costs," said Elizabeth Doughman, editor of WATTPoultry USA and Poultry Future. The 2025 event featured two content tracks focused on the theme "Smart Tech, Smarter Supply." Experts discussed 8 tech trends shaping the future of chicken consumption, Salmonella intervention strategies that work, efforts to mitigate highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI), improving broiler welfare, and more. Chicken Marketing Summit 2025 was hosted by WATT Global Media on July 28-30 at the DeSoto Savannah in Savannah, Georgia. Chicken Marketing Summit named Perdue Farms as the 2025 recipient of the Chicken Marketer of the Year award, which was developed to recognize organizations or companies who demonstrate excellence and innovation in promoting chicken.
