Source: Farm Progress news release ST. CHARLES, ILL. -- Farm Progress staff earned multiple awards at the recent Ag Media Summit, held July 29, 2025, in Rogers, Ark. The winning entries were part of the annual Agricultural Communicators Network (ACN) Communication Awards program, where communicators nationwide showcase their best work in design, photography, writing, marketing and communications, as well as digital and social media. Holly Spangler, executive editor for Prairie Farmer, led the Farm Progress team with multiple awards, including a first-place win in the Breaking News category for "AFBF votes to expel Illinois Farm Bureau" and second place in Editorial Opinion for "Wind restrictions could save our weed control". Spangler was also named 2025 Writer of the Year, Honorable Mention. Additionally, during the summit, Spangler participated as a panelist in the workshop session titled "Writing|Closed to Media: Leveraging relationships, public records and the First Amendment to cover stories." "These awards reflect our team's dedication to delivering timely, relevant content to our readers," said Mike Wilson, senior executive editor for Farm Progress. "From breaking news to thoughtful opinion pieces, our goal is always to provide the agricultural information our audience needs to make informed decisions." Also serving as a panelist, Eric Braun, senior executive, content, represented Farm Progress in the workshop session titled "The Race to AI: How to successfully use AI within your organization". The summit also marked the conclusion of Pam Caraway's term as ACN president. Caraway, executive editor of Farm Futures, was congratulated by incoming president Joy Crosby for her year of service leading the organization. Caraway also earned a third-place award in the Economics and Management category for her article "Lasso the Love". Multiple members of the Farm Progress editorial team received recognition across various categories, with several staff members earning Master Writer designations.
