USDA: CRANBERRY PRODUCTION FORECAST TO LAND NEAR FIVE-YEAR AVERAGE

Washington, DC -- From the Atlantic to Pacific coasts, cranberries are harvested across the United States ahead of the holiday season. Fresh cranberries are widely available from October to December, while the remainder of the crop is processed into products sold year-round.
Production of this native fruit is measured by the barrel, with one barrel equivalent to 100 pounds. In 2025, the U.S. cranberry crop is forecast at 8.13 million barrels, a decrease of 9 percent from 2024 but close to the 5-year average of 7.95 million barrels.
Wisconsin, the top-producing State, typically harvests around 60 percent of the U.S. crop. For 2025, Wisconsin's production is forecast at 5.3 million barrels, a decrease of 3 percent from 2024 but 4 percent above the average of the previous 3 years.
Massachusetts, the second-largest cranberry producer, typically accounts for about 25 percent of the U.S. crop. The State's 2025 harvest is forecast at 1.75 million barrels, a 22-percent decrease from 2024 and 19 percent below average of the previous 3 years due to dry growing conditions.
Production is also forecast to decline in Oregon and New Jersey--down 10 percent and 12 percent, respectively, as compared to the prior year.
