ARLINGTON, Va. - The American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) named Mike Osborne, key account advisor at Alltech, as its Member of the Year during the AFIA Board of Directors meeting on May 13. The Member of the Year award honors an AFIA member who exhibits outstanding support in achieving the association's goals and objectives throughout the year.

"Mike has been an invaluable leader and advocate for the animal food industry, generously sharing his industry expertise to guide AFIA's policy priorities in the supply chain space," said Dan Meagher, president and CEO of Novus International, Inc., and AFIA Board chair 2025-26. "His leadership and insights have strengthened the broader AFIA effort on supply chain resiliency and the important work we are doing to ensure a strong, reliable future for our industry. Mike's decades of service, innovation and commitment to agriculture make him exceptionally deserving of this recognition."

Osborne boasts decades of leadership and innovation in the U.S. animal nutrition and agribusiness. Prior to joining Alltech, he founded and served as president of agricultural feed ingredient supplier, Nutra Blend, growing the company into a $1 billion premix business serving customers across the United States. Under his leadership, Nutra Blend launched a national "Chew on This" tour to raise awareness about U.S. food production and child hunger, as well as a backpack food program that has provided more than 25 million meals to schoolchildren in need.

Osborne has served in leadership roles across the industry, including nine years on the AFIA Board of Directors. Most recently, he served as an active participant on the Industry Resiliency Task Force, where he supported AFIA's broader efforts to communicate about the potential for supply chain challenges that could impact the industry's ability to provide vital nutrition to the livestock and poultry industry.

Osborne grew up in his family's egg business and earned a business administration degree from Missouri Southern State University. A dedicated family man and lifelong supporter of agriculture, Osborne remains active in his church and community of Neosho, Mo., while continuing a five-generation family tradition in agribusiness.

About AFIA

Founded in 1909, the American Feed Industry Association (AFIA), based in Arlington, Va., is the world's largest organization devoted exclusively to representing the business, legislative and regulatory interests of the U.S. animal food industry and its suppliers. The organization's membership is comprised of over 650 domestic and international companies that represent the total feed industry--manufacturers of commercial and integrated feed and pet food, ingredient suppliers, pharmaceutical companies, industry support and equipment manufacturers. AFIA's members manufacture more than 75% of the feed and 70% of the non-whole grain ingredients used in the country. AFIA is also recognized as the leader on international industry developments, and holds membership in the International Feed Industry Federation (IFIF).
