Sep. 14, 2006 Source: Association news release A new association to address the needs of the ever-growing "country living" population will begin initial operation Sept. 15, 2006. The new entity is named Country Living Association and its membership is focused on individuals and families who reside in the country and marketers who supply these families with goods and services relating to country life. "Data proves there are millions of households made up of people who reside outside of cities on acreages ranging from one to 50. These people, as well as traditional farm operators, have unique needs and priorities, and they can benefit greatly from a collective voice, as well as networking opportunities and educational resources," says Alan Krob, executive director of Country Living Association. In addition to introducing the new association, Krob announced that Meredith Corporation's Living the Country Life will serve as the organization's official publication, and John Deere has committed to be a founding sponsor. "For nearly 170 years John Deere has provided the farm community with the very best in equipment-based solutions and services. This rich, rural heritage also is vitally important in helping us meet the unique needs of our country lifestyle customers," says Cleo Franklin, strategic marketing manager, John Deere Large Property Owner customer segment. "As a company, we are proud to support the Country Living Association because we believe it brings a much-needed voice to an expanding share of the population who have chosen rural America as a better way of life." "We're extremely pleased to have corporations with the stature of John Deere and Meredith affiliated with our organization. Both of these companies value people who live in the country and want to play a lead role in bringing additional opportunities and assistance to make our members' lives easier and more rewarding," Krob says. Membership services offered by Country Living Association not only will focus on family and land care issues, but also will include topics such as financial and insurance planning, pet and animal care, asset and tax management, and new product information. Members will receive Living The Country Life magazine, a monthly e-newsletter and have access to a very robust Web site, including free classifieds and an "ask the experts" feature. Regional seminars will be offered as will an annual national convention and trade show. "Our mission statement is to create and foster a community for like-minded people who share a passion for country living, and we're very focused on member value. We will provide educational programs, product and service discounts and an opportunity for members to associate with and learn from one another. Family and animals are of utmost importance to our members and those themes will be core to our offering," Krob says. Management services for Country Living Association are being provided by Drake & Company, a long-standing association management firm based in St. Louis, Mo.
