UNITY SEEDS NAMES NEW PRESIDENT/CEO
Source: Unity Seeds news release

Unity Seeds has named Rick Heyde as its new president and chief executive officer.

He succeeds Cathy Standish, who with her husband, Earl, continue as owners of the 16-year old family seed company. The company specializes in selling corn, alfalfa and sorghum seed directly to farmers from its Indiana-based national sales and agronomic center.

Heyde comes to Unity from Viskase Companies, Inc., a worldwide leader in the manufacture and supply of cellulose, fibrous and plastic casings to the meat industry. He served in a variety of positions with the company, including Executive Director of Worldwide Operations and Vice President-Lean Enterprise. Heyde was born and raised on a farm near Bremen, Ind., that is still in the family, and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Purdue University.

"Unity is a very good company right on the edge of becoming a great company," says Heyde. "I want to be a part of that and am excited about the opportunity."

Heyde brings a passion for efficiency and customer service. "We want to make sure, first and foremost, that we have the seed that our customers want and need," says Heyde. "Our highly trained professional sales agronomists will be able to provide valuable information to farmers throughout the United States."

"Rick will be an excellent person to lead our growing company," says Cathy Standish. "He brings with him more than 32 years of manufacturing, management and leadership experience, and a passion for efficiency that will be key to our successful expansion."

Unity Ag Direct, Inc., is a family business selling corn, alfalfa and sorghum seed under the Unity Seeds trademark directly to farmers from its national sales and agronomic center in Kentland, Ind.
