SCOULAR, JOHNSON GRAIN ANNOUNCE NEW VENTURE TO EXPAND GRAIN HANDLING, ASSETS Mar. 16, 2010

The Scoular Company of Omaha, NE, and Johnson Grain, LLC of Waverly, IL, jointly announce that the two companies have formed a new venture to own and operate grain handling assets in central Illinois. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The newly formed partnership includes Johnson's three grain-handling facilities in Palmyra and Waverly, IL. Jay Johnson, president of Johnson Grain, will continue to serve as general manager of the two country elevators and shuttle train loading facility that are now part of the new partnership. All three facilities will be incorporated into Scoular's North American marketing network.
Scoular senior vice president Todd McQueen said the partnership leverages the strengths of both companies to provide improved access to markets and services to central Illinois producers. McQueen said the new venture will seek additional expansion opportunities.
