![]() Mar. 22, 2010 Source: Agri Marketing magazine and American Business Media's (ABM) Agri-Council A poll conducted among corporate agribusiness executives last week showed the majority think the current ag economy is positive and are expecting an even better environment over the next 12 months. Entitled the "Agri-Marketers' Confidence Index," the poll was conducted by Agri Marketing magazine and the ABM's Agri-Council. The poll was sent to 325 executives of companies that develop and sell products to North American crop and livestock producers. Only one executive at each company division received the survey. A total of 83 company representatives participated in the poll, including a very wide sampling of large and small enterprises, as well as both crop and livestock-oriented companies. "We modeled the Agri-Marketers' Confidence Index closely along the lines of the well-known consumer confidence studies regularly reported by The Conference Board and the University of Michigan Survey Research Center," reports Steve Custer, Chair of the ABM Agri-Council's Research Committee and Executive Vice President of Farm Journal Media. ABM Agri-Council Chief Marketing Officer Mark Rothman says "We are pleased with the results of this survey which continues to reflect a positive attitude among agri-marketers. We believe that this survey, which will be conducted on a quarterly basis, will provide meaningful information to the ag industry. A few of the highlights include: *58% of the respondents rated the current business conditions for their company as positive. That is four times the number rating it as negative. *62% believe the business conditions in the 12 months from now will be better. *48% expect to increase their marketing communications budget one year from now with another 42% expecting it will remain the same.
