![]() Jul. 20, 2010 Source: Telvent DTN internal memo We are pleased to announce a couple of exciting promotions within our editorial organization. Urban Lehner has accepted the newly created position of Vice President, Editorial. In this role, Urban will own the overall editorial direction for all of Telvent DTN with a focus on Telvent DTN's efforts around the key strategic issues facing Agriculture and further leveraging the considerable talents of our world-class editorial organizations in both Omaha and Birmingham. Effective immediately, Greg Horstmeier has been named editor-in-chief of DTN and will assume the day-to-day responsibilities of managing the DTN newsroom. Jack Odle has been operating as both publisher and editor-in-chief for The Progressive Farmer. As we continue to develop our overall media business it will be increasingly important for Jack to able to focus solely on his role as publisher. Accordingly, Gregg Hillyer has been named editor-in-chief of The Progressive Farmer, succeeding Jack Odle. In their new roles, both Greg and Gregg will report directly to Urban for all editorial issues. The ability and willingness of people like Urban, Jack, Greg, and Gregg to accept new and exciting challenges speaks volumes about the strength of the Telvent DTN organization and the exciting future possibilities! Both of our new editors-in-chief have farm backgrounds, broad and deep experience in agricultural journalism and numerous ag-journalism awards to their credit. Horstmeier, previously DTN's production editor, spent six years as news director of the University of Missouri's agricultural extension service and nine years as chemical and seeds editor at Farm Journal magazine. He has won two Oscars in Agriculture and was part of a team that won a 2010 Jesse H. Neal award for best web video, in addition to first place awards for writing from the American Agricultural Editors' Association and North American Agricultural Journalists. Hillyer has been serving as executive editor of The Progressive Farmer and was previously senior editor. Earlier in his career he did stints as managing editor of Farm Journal group's Hogs Today and editor of Soybean Digest. He has won two Oscars in Agriculture, several firsts for writing and photography from the American Agricultural Editors' Association and North American Agricultural Journalists and oversaw an issue of The Progressive Farmer that was a 2010 Jesse H. Neal award finalist. Tweet |
