Aug. 19, 2010 Source: Farm Journal Media news release Almost a year in the making, Farm Journal Media has launched an all-new AgWeb.com -- the Homepage of Agriculture. AgWeb, the largest online media and information network in agriculture, now features even more robust news, weather and market data. New business tools have been added as well-from cost calculators to expert assistance from agronomists and farm tax advisers. The new AgWeb features dramatically upgraded social engagement tools throughout the platform. Long the top destination for farmer-to-farmer discussions, AgWeb now offers more multimedia, user commenting and contributing, social media connections, and completely revamped discussion forums. "With a site as complex and large as AgWeb.com, we faced a significant information architecture challenge to showcase the vast content we offer without overwhelming our audience. It was an enormous project, but the entire company came together to enhance our position as the Homepage of Agriculture," says Mitch Rouda, president, Farm Journal e-Media. The site includes more than 50 resident blogs, a news feed from around the world, and the most popular discussion boards in agriculture. Ag-oriented weather, daily TV and video uploads, commodity trading data feeds, agronomy and marketing advice, and business management tools further the content offering. Still available on the newly redesigned Web site is the powerful Cash Grain Bids service, which finds and delivers current local grain bids from thousands of grain elevators across the country, and MyMachinery, which features searchable listings for tens of thousands of pieces of used farm machinery currently for sale. New features found on AgWeb.com include Ask an Agronomist, where growers can bring questions directly to our team of national experts, and the Ask the Farm CPA, where farmers can get answers directly from renowned agricultural business advisers. "We talked to farmers throughout the development process and the new AgWeb was designed with their needs always at the top of the list," says Greg Vincent, AgWeb editor. "The reaction we've gotten from our users who participated in development tests and since we pushed the site live last week has been extremely reaffirming. We've met our goal of creating the broadest and easiest-to-use Web site in agriculture." Related and recently rebuilt sites include FarmJournal.com, MyMachinery.com, TopProducer-Online.com, BeefToday.com, FarmJournalLegacyProject.com, and DairyToday.com. The company expects to relaunch its TV sites, USFarmReport.com and AgDay.com, later this summer. Tweet |
