Aug. 24, 2010 Source: Farm Progress news release Right now the Farm Progress Show setup is under way and several strategically positioned Web cameras are focused on the show area while exhibitors get ready for the show, which runs from Aug. 31 to Sept. 2 near Boone, Iowa. For three days this fall, the eyes of the ag world will turn to Boone, Iowa, for the Farm Progress Show. Farmers, ranchers, suppliers, manufacturers, Wall Street representatives, media representatives and others from this nation and around the world come to experience the event. Often show visitors don't have the opportunity to see the work that goes into creating a display at the greatest ag showcase in the country. With the power of the Web, visitors can now watch the show as it is being built. Pioneer Hi-Bred is sponsoring four Web cameras (webcams) that are placed at different points throughout the show grounds and demonstration fields. Webcam images are easily viewed by visiting www.FarmProgressShow.com and clicking on "Check out the Web Cams" under the Quick Links. The four webcams are the Pioneer Cam, which faces the Pioneer Tent; the Central Avenue Cam, which looks west down Central Avenue; the Crop Cam, which faces east towards the demonstration fields; and the Main Gate Cam, which looks south from the main entrance onto the center of the show exhibit area. "This is a great new feature for Farm Progress Show fans to watch the displays being built. Weeks of preparation go into making sure the grounds are ready for our visitors on Aug. 31," says Matt Jungmann, Farm Progress national events manager. Not only can visitors watch companies construct their exhibits and place machinery on their lots, but also they can see the corn in the demonstration fields and check how it is maturing. The 2010 Farm Progress Show takes place east of Boone, Iowa, from Aug. 31 to Sept. 2. The exhibit field is open to visitors 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday. Admission at the gate is $10 for adults, $5 for ages 13 to 17, and free for ages 12 and under. Adult admission tickets may be purchased in advance from the show's website at a 30% discount from the regular gate price. At this year's show, Farm Progress Show and Monsanto have teamed up to help feed Iowa's hungry with the Monsanto America's Farmers Food Drive. You can help. As part of the initiative, Farm ProgressShow visitors are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to the show. Each gate will have a drop-off location. For everypound of food donated, Monsanto willdonate $1 in cash to the United Way of Story County, Iowa, up to $20,000. The public is welcome.
