Nov. 11, 2010 Source: Beck's Hybrids news release Beck's Hybrids, the agricultural industry, the Hamilton County community, and the Rulon family lost a great leader on Nov. 10, 2010. Lester and Ruth Rulon received the gift of Lee's birth on Christmas Eve 1945 as the youngest of three boys. Lee's two brothers went to Purdue in agriculture. However, Lee chose to attend the University of Kentucky. While there he met Kathy Manyet and they married on Aug. 13, 1966. He graduated from the University of Kentucky in December 1967 with a bachelor's degree in finance. Lee and Kathy were blessed with two children, Sally and Gavin. Sally married Joe Mangas and provided Lee with five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Gavin married Tamara Lockwood and they also provided Lee with five grandchildren. Sally's and Gavin's families both live near Arcadia, IN. Sally and Gavin both worked alongside their father at Beck's Hybrids. Lee built the sales department at Beck's Hybrids from the ground up starting in August 1972. Lee personally selected every member of Beck's sales and marketing staff, along with many employees in other departments. Lee also participated as a part owner of the Rulon Enterprises farming operation in Arcadia, Ind. Lee's titles at Beck's included sales manager, marketing director, and most recently director of sales recruitment/chief sales and marketing advisor. Under Lee's guidance, Beck's sales grew to make it the largest family-owned seed company in the United States. Not just satisfied with growing Beck's business, Lee also devoted tireless energy, enthusiasm and vision to many other organizations.
