THE PASSING OF OLLIE MYERS Nov. 22, 2010
Illinois Fertilizer & Chemical Assoc. (IFCA) reports:
IFCA is saddened to learn of the passing of Ollie B. Myers. Ollie, 83, was a pioneer of the Illinois fertilizer industry.
Ollie was a WW II veteran and a graduate of the University of Illinois. He began his career in agriculture in 1951 as a vo-ag instructor at Lexington High School. In 1955 the Glenn Kemp family gave Ollie an opportunity in the fertilizer business, and he founded Myers Inc. in Lexington.
Throughout his life Ollie gave back to agriculture and his community, serving on the Lexington School Board, Commerce Bank Board, McLean County Zoning Board of Appeals, the Baby Fold, Bromenn Foundation Board, U of I Agronomy Council, Illinois Fertilizer Industry Association (now known as IFCA), the National Fertilizer Solutions Association, National Ag Retailers Association, and the Lexington American Legion Post 591.
