IOWA STATE VET COLLEGE ACQUIRES DES MOINES SPECIALTY CARE HOSPITAL Jan. 25, 2011
Iowa State University (ISU) reports:
The ISU College of Veterinary Medicine has forged an important partnership that it believes will better serve veterinarians and veterinary clients in the Des Moines area: the purchase (through a non-profit business entity) of Iowa Veterinary Specialties (IVS), an investor-owned emergency and specialty care hospital in Des Moines.
The agreement will bring together the strengths and resources of IVS and ISU's Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center to provide improved veterinary care in central Iowa.
"The timing is right for creating this affiliation," said IVS founder L.A. Holmes (DVM '75). "Our hospital has grown considerably throughout its 30-year history and is well positioned for future growth.
"Iowa State can help IVS recognize its potential much sooner than would otherwise be possible."
