Aug. 23, 2011 Source: The Brock Report Corn prices are already at historically high levels, which adds fuel to the fire that is pushing land values and cash rents higher. A large share of the cash rent negotiations for next year will be taking place between now and the end of September. A central Illinois subscriber called this week to say he was told the cash rent for a bank-managed farm would be $700 per acre next year! This craziness will cause some growers to lock in incredibly high input costs. Agri Marketing note: that same farm most likely rented for $110/acre five years ago. Tweet |
