Dec. 13, 2011 Source: Harvest PR news release After a nationwide call for entries, Harvest Public Relations & Marketing, Inc. has awarded its fourth annual "Seed to Succeed" nonprofit PR grant, valued at $25,000, to the Farm Journal Foundation. In 2012, Harvest PR will support the Foundation's "Farmers Feeding the World" initiative, launched in 2010 to rally the U.S. agriculture industry to raise funds for hunger charities and provide education about modern agriculture to consumers. "We are thrilled for the opportunity to help bring mainstream awareness to Farm Journal Foundation's humanitarian cause," said Heidi Nelson, founder of Harvest PR. "Connecting consumers with agriculture is a specialty area we have passionately honed through grower-funded consumer campaigns. To do what we love, while addressing food security issues, is a privilege." Harvest PR created the Seed to Succeed PR Grant in 2009 to annually support one worthy nonprofit, awarding its first offering to Southern Peanut Growers in the wake of a devastating product recall. In 2010 and 2011, Harvest PR adopted upstart nonprofit AgChat Foundation, formed to empower farmers and ranchers to effectively tell their stories using social media. Brian Harvey Hogue, director of operations for the Farm Journal Foundation, said the organization is excited about the additional resources. "We were wowed by Harvest PR's generosity and desire to better the industry it serves. While Farm Journal Media has been an established brand for 134 years, Farm Journal Foundation and Farmers Feeding the World are just over a year old. "The Seed to Succeed PR grant will help us effectively deliver our campaign message to key audiences, including the general public, and allow us to focus resources on the core mission," he said. "Investing in the Farmers Feeding the World campaign will give back many times over, both to the food insecure people who receive aid, and the farmers and ranchers whose stories we tell." About Farm Journal Foundation The Farm Journal Foundation is a nonprofit corporation dedicated to sustaining U.S. agriculture's ability to serve the vital needs of a growing world population with education and assistance focused on the unique interests of people and organizations aligned with U.S agriculture.
