INTERSTATE FARM NETWORK LAUNCHES AG PROGRAMMING FOR THE WEEKEND
Source: Interstate Farm Network news release

Agriculture is hot, and somebody once said you "should strike while the iron is hot."

Interstate Farm Network has done just that. We took some hot ideas for delivering ag information, and currently produce custom local newscasts for agriculture, for media companies we work with.

In the past six months, we have helped to develop four unique programming formats that fit specific geographic areas, within northeastern North Dakota, parts of southern Manitoba and northwestern Minnesota.

Interstate Farm Network started with the idea that there should be news about agriculture on the radio for weekend listeners. There is plenty of information that there is not time to use during the week, and an expanded program that allows stations to show their personality is essential.

"Out In the Country" is the program we developed to fit that. Out In the Country is a two hour program that includes each station's local news weather and sports information that the individual station provides. Interstate Farm Network (IFN) fills the rest of the time with ag news, markets, weather and feature stories.

While planning to produce and market Out in The Country, it became obvious we could fill some other programming needs. That led to "Tractorcast," which consists of three, three minute programs per day for each local station we work with. Interviews and information are custom fit for a stations location, talking with experts and producers who local listeners know.

We also cover important national and regional stories.

"Ag Day Manitoba" followed from that. With Ag Day Manitoba we produce farm related news for southern Manitoba, along with Western Prairie and other Canadian farm news.

We currently have one other program in production, that will begin airing in late April called North Valley Crop Report. That program is targeted to NE North Dakota and focuses on row crops including potatoes and sugarbeets.

Our Media partners include:

Simmons Broadcasting in Langdon North Dakota
KNDK, Maverick 105, and KXPO
Dan and Mary Keating in Mayville North Dakota
KMAV
And Leighton Broadcasting in Grand Forks North Dakota
KNOX

Our thanks to all of these companies for helping us get started and making it possible for listeners to get more farm news and information on their local radio stations.

Interstate Farm Network is owned and operated by NAFB Farm Broadcaster Ken Morgan (Duane Hagen) and Kerri Hagen. We are located in Emerado ND, and have been on the air with programming since August of 2011.

As a farm Broadcaster, Ken spent five years working with Red River Farm Network in Grand Forks, ND, and two years covering ag related news for KNOX in Grand Forks. Ken's resume includes work in radio since the early 70's in most music formats, news talk and sports broadcasting.
