Dec. 4, 2012 Red River Network reports: Speaking to investors, Monsanto chief technology officer Robb Fraley is offering an optimistic outlook. "We're going to launch a major new innovation every year through the end of the decade so that's a pretty exciting place to be in, and we're seeing some explosive new technologies." That includes BioDirect Technology, which will allow growers to spray on a very-targeted biological product to deal with glyphosate-resistant weeds. In 2012, nearly 75% of Monsanto's soybean varieties were Roundup Ready 2 Yield. Fraley says, "In 2013, it'll basically be 100%, so we've completely converted our breeding engine over to Roundup Ready 2. More importantly, the licensees in the industry, who we've licensed the technology to, are also moving aggressively and we expect that in 2013, that seed volume of our licensees will be about 75% of their volume will be Roundup Ready to Yield, so the whole industry is converting very quickly to this platform." Fraley says that will be the foundation for Monsanto's future launch of dicamba tolerance in the United States. Named Intacta in South America. Tweet |
