Aug. 16, 2013 CropLife America reports: Disney's latest film, Planes, debuted in movie theaters on August 9th. The film stars Dusty, an animated plane that serves an agricultural purpose through aerial crop protection applications (known colloquially as "crop dusting"). Disney provided the National Agricultural Aviation Association (NAAA) the opportunity to attend an advance screening of the movie in April. Following the screening, NAAA reported that any concerns about the portrayal of ag aviation had been alleviated. CLA highlighted this unique collaboration between Disney and NAAA in our July Tell Me More newsletter. NAAA also featured a special article in their newsletter on the day of the film's premiere. In it, NAAA executive director Andrew Moore notes, "I remain deeply struck by how great this film is for our industry. "I grew up loving Disney just like many a child across continents and generations. The company that brought to life the cultural icons of Pinocchio, Bambi and Lighting McQueen now has added a principled, hard-working and kind crop duster to its inventory of beloved animated characters. "It's a great boost for the agricultural aviation industry." Tweet |
