NORTH AMERICAN MILLERS ASSN NAMES NEW PRESIDENT
Source: North American Millers' Assn news release

The North American Millers' Association (NAMA); representing the wheat, corn, and oat milling industries; has named Jim McCarthy as the organization's president.

"Jim's leadership and association management skills will be a valuable asset to NAMA and the future of our association. He joins an experienced and dynamic staff that will make for a very strong team to address our issues today and for the future," commented NAMA Chairman Jim Meyer, who led the search process. "He is bringing a new energy to the association."

Mr. McCarthy joins NAMA from the Snack Food Association (SFA). He began his tenure at SFA in 1991 as the Vice President, Government Relations and was named SFA President and CEO in 1999.

For more than 20 years he has represented the snack food industry in Washington, creating strategic responses to and successfully guiding members through state and federal issues such as childhood obesity, trade restrictions, use of trans-fats, food safety, food stamps, hunger, proposed taxes on snack foods and other issues of critical importance to the industry.

"I am looking forward to working with the NAMA Board and members to chart a new course for the association's future," said Mr. McCarthy. "I have worked with NAMA's excellent staff on a number of occasions and I am eager to join the team and learn more about the industry."

Mr. McCarthy succeeds Mary Waters, who resigned from NAMA earlier this year. He will join the NAMA team in early October.

More biographical information and a photo of Mr. McCarthy are available at http://www.namamillers.org/about-us/board-and-officers/president/

For more information or to schedule an interview, contact NAMA Communications Director Terri Long, 202.484.2200, ext. 11, tlong@namamillers.org.

NAMA is the trade association of the wheat, corn, oat, and rye milling industries. Member companies operate mills in 38 states and Canada, representing more than 90 percent of total industry production capacity.
