FARM FUTURES SURVEY SHOWS MORE BEANS, LESS CORN
BrownfieldAgNews reports:

The latest Farm Futures survey of farmer's planting intentions for 2015 shows more soybeans and less corn than previous estimates.

The survey projects 88.3 million acres of soybeans, two percent more than the magazine's August survey. The corn estimate is 88.5 million acres, down two percent from August. Winter wheat seedings are estimated at 42.6 million acres, down 2.3 percent from August.

The magazine notes that less fertilizer was applied last fall than normal, giving growers more flexibility this spring with planting choices. Farmers reported applying five percent less nitrogen, six percent less phosphate and seven percent less potash than normal.

The email survey was conducted December 17th through January 3rd.
