 April 2006 Tom Davis has been named group publisher of Meredith Corporation's men's brands. In his new role, Davis will oversee all operations of the WOOD, Successful Farming and Living the Country Life brands. Scott Mortimer has been named to succeed Davis as publisher of Successful Farming. Mortimer, most recently served as the magazine's national sales manager. Mortimer joined Meredith in 1992 and has held the positions of branch and regional manager within the Successful Farming sales organization. Prism Business Media Ag publications promote Allen Barkve to the role of national sales manager for Farm Industry News, The Corn and Soybean Digest, Apply and Hay & Forage Grower magazines. He previously was regional sales manager for the magazines. A 21-year veteran of the farm publications, Barkve started his agricultural publishing career as a sales representative for The Farmer/The Dakota Farmer. Also at Prism, Jody Wehrspann is named senior editor for Farm Industry News magazine. She has been a journalist for 11 years, specializing in machinery, technology and precision farming. She was previously on the staff of Farm Industry News but took a hiatus to freelance after the birth of her son five years ago. Three editors of Vance Publishing Corporation's food360? division, Lenexa, KS, are honored with Jesse H. Neal Business Journalism Awards. The recognized editors of Porkmag.com are Marlys Miller, Jane Messenger and James Arnold. Three of the nation's best farm radio stations have been named by the National Association of Farm Broadcasting (NAFB) Foundation to receive the Foundation's Farm Broadcast Student Internship Grants. Stations WMBD/WIRL, Peoria, IL; KRVN, Lexington, NE; and KKOW, Pittsburg, KS, will each receive a grant of $1,000 to further develop their farm broadcast internship programs. In addition to the grant, NAFB Foundation will pay the intern registration fee to the 2006 Annual NAFB Convention in November for each of the winning stations and networks. AM Tweet |
