Five Years Ago (2001)
• Garst Seed promotes Steve Klein to dir of sales and Lori Thomas to mktg mgr. Klein had been mktg mgr and Thomas was a district sales mgr
• AGCO purchases Ag-Chem Equipment Co.

Ten Years Ago (1996)
• Farm Progress Co. purchases the Western Farmer-Stockman Magazines whose titles include: Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Utah, and Washington Farmer-Stockman. Also, Don Torte joins the firm as nat'l sales mgr.
• Farmland Industry's Pres/CEO Harry Cleberg is named 1996 NAMA Agri-Marketer of the Year.
• McCormick Co. is named agency of record for the Pioneer Hi-Bred Int'l seed corn account. The agency handles all other Pioneer product lines.
• Nat'l Cattlemen's Beef Assoc. promotes Kendal Frazier to VP comms.
• National FFA debuts its first Web site.

Twenty Years Ago (1986)
• American Cyanamid receives EPA registration for Scepter soybean herbicide.
• Best of NAMA judges include (their employer at the time): Phil Johnson (Farm Credit Banks), Burke Johnson (Rumrill-Hoyt), John Larkin (The John Volk Co.), Lou Ireland (Pioneer Hi-Bred), and Jim Evans (University of Illinois).
• DuPont acquires Shell Oil Co's ag chemical division. The acquisition doubles DuPont's crop protection business to $700 million.
• Harcourt Brace acquires the Farmer-Stockman Publishing Co. whose titles include Texas and Oklahoma Farmer-Stockman. Robert Fensler, pres of Nebraska Farmer Co. is named publisher of the two magazines.
• Dan Weise forms Dan Weise Marketing Research, Cedar Rapids, IA.
