ASSOCIATION NEWS April 2007 The American Society of Agricultural Consultants (ASAC) elects Sam Bartee, CAC, as its new Pres. Bartee is president of Bartee Agrichemical Consultants, Inc., Olathe, KS. Also newly elected are: Pres-elect Ken Hilton, CAC, Red Wing Software, Red Wing, MN; VP/Secy Bill Zweigbaum, CACI, First Pioneer Farm Credit, Plattsburgh, NY; CFO Russell Morgan, CAC, Morgan & Associates Consulting Services, Paducah, KY; Immediate Past Pres Robert Mehrle, Ph.D., CAC, Agricultural Information Management, Lambert, MS. The American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers (ASFMRA) elects Ray L. Brownfield, AFM, ARA, as it Pres. Brownfield is an Accredited Farm Manager (AFM) and Accredited Rural Appraiser (ARA) and a licensed Illinois Real Estate Broker. Prior to forming his own firm, Land Pro, he had been Pres/CEO of the large, professional farm management firm Capital Agricultural Property Services. The Biopesticide Industry Alliance (BPIA) appoints Michael H. Beevers as its new Exec Dir. Beevers'responsibilities will include strengthening BPIA's relationship with key regulatory agencies, increasing education on biopesticides benefits and broadening the BPIA membership base. Prior to joining BPIA, Beevers was with California Agricultural Research, where he served as Research Director/CEO for 22 years. CropLife America (CLA) votes to eliminate the requirement for CLA members to support the Ag Container Recycling Council (ACRC). The CLA plans to work with the ACRC to establish a transition plan to ensure the ACRC continues to have industry support. In other news, CLA hires Jessica Pantages as External Comms Leader. Prior to CropLife, Pantages was with General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems' Integrated Space Systems division in Arlington, VA. The W.K. Kellogg Foundation's Food Systems and Rural Development (FSRD) names Dr. Ali Webb as Program Dir. Webb will lead FSRD's policy and communications programs. Dr. Ricardo J. Salvador is appointed as Program Dir. Prior to joining the foundation, Salvador was an Associate Professor of Agronomy at Iowa State University. Dr. Oran Hesterman will be leaving FSRD at the end of 2007 to serve as Pres/CEO of the Michigan-based Fair Food Foundation. Dr. Frank Taylor, FSRD Program Dir, announces his retirement. Taylor has been a Program Dir since 1994. The German Agricultural Society (DLG) and the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) announce the formation of an AEM North American Exhibit Pavilion at the DLG-organized Agritechnica exhibition in Hanover, Germany. Agritechnica, the world's largest exhibition for agricultural machinery, attracted nearly 260,000 farmers and other specialists from around the world last year. The Country Living Association hires Courtney Yuskis as Dir of the association. Yukis will be responsible for educational clinics that will be held across the U.S. in 2007. Prior to joining the Country Living Association, Yuskis was with the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Bob Off announces his retirement from the FarmHouse International Fraternity and Foundation's Board.
