Source: Select Sires news release

Select Sires recently unveiled its "Holstein Impact Sires of the Breed" artwork, which features ten Select Sires bulls that have made significant genetic contribution to the improvement of the Holstein breed throughout the world.

Profits generated from sales of the print will be donated to Holstein Foundation and North American Intercollegiate Dairy Challenge.

"This artwork was developed to recognize the many Select Sires bulls that have made a lasting impact in the Holstein breed, leaving a legacy of great sons and grandsons, as well as some of the breed's greatest cows and cow families," said Charlie Will, manager of the Holstein sire program for Select Sires.

"The fact is, more dairy producers use Select Sires semen than any other stud with more than 50 percent of U.S. Holstein genes tracing to Select Sires roots. It is this proud past that drives Select Sires to strive for excellence in genetic improvement for future generations."

The sires featured in the painting are the top-10 vote getters based on a federation-wide vote of Select Sires employees. They are: 7HO5157 Regancrest Elton DURHAM-ET (EX-90-GM); 7HO3948 MJR Blackstar EMORY-ET (EX-97-GM); 7HO2236 Emprise Bell ELTON (EX-95); 7HO5375 Mara-Thon BW MARSHALL-ET (VG-86-GM); 7HO5708 Fustead Emory BLITZ-ET (EX-94-GM); 7HO1897 To-Mar BLACKSTAR-ET (EX-93-GM).
